Ive diverted my attentions away from learning C++ tutorials to these languages. Each will contribute to the creation of browser based artworks, I see these pieces adding to the rest of my practice. I switched from C++ to these languages as C++ did not suit what I want to do. With the coded art I want pieces which almost anyone can access once they enter the browser based artwork, for this reason Im learning the languages mostly widely utilized in browsers.
Ill be tackling this list in chronological order and this should keep me busy well into next year. Color experiment sketch created with code in processing. Here is a sketch I was playing with. Created with code (C++) on Processing. I created this using a tutorial so hopefully in a few weeks I will be be good enough to create original pieces myself.
By defining the characteristics (movement, attraction, gravity etc) of the elements you can set up the initial rules for behaviors which mimic observable behaviors such as flocking. These elements often take on a life of their own as they interact in ways which you could not have foreseen. http://processing.org/ Heres a video piece I created nearly two years ago. This piece was exhibited in The Black Mariah's graduate show 2011.
Really interesting documentary about creativity's mimetic quality and copyright. |
